Obituary for James Dale Bartgis

James Dale Bartgis, age 83, of Maysville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at his residence.

Born October 17, 1932 in Tomahawk, he was the son of the late Granville Bartgis and Virginia Files Hiett.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was employed by the Grant and Hampshire County School Districts as a bus driver.

He was well known for his hunting skills, especially for bear!

He is survived by his son, Ronnie Bartgis and wife, Robin, and daughter, Joni Murphy and husband, Dave; grandchildren, Heather, Wayne, Gennifer and Travis; great-grandchildren, Beth, Devyn, Killian and Grant; one great-great-granddaughter, Dylan; and his extended step-grandchildren, Tina, Tony, Michael, Candace, Anthony, Leah, Brady and Nevaeh. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Bartgis of Hedgesville and John Bartgis of Mt. Joy, Pennsylvania.


Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Beatrice Noll; brothers, Garland (Mule) Bartgis, Max Bartgis and Lyle Bartgis; and his companion of 19 years, Helen Haines, who passed away under his loving care on April 9, 2016.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Tomahawk Presbyterian Church with Pastor William Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Interment with military service will be in the Tomahawk Presbyterian Cemetery.
