The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James Bartgis can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Steven J. Herbaugh
Condolence: Dear Ronnie, Joni, and Family,

The Schartiger Family was saddened to read of your father's death, so soon after Helen died.

We only met them a few times, but Jim and Helen were both very nice people and they welcomed us into their home on Knobley Read.

About 2003, Jim discovered our long lost German immigrant ancestor's gravestone. He took it home, cleaned, and kept it (for about eight years), until he located a Schartiger descendant in March 2011.

Jim and Helen were recognized honored guests at the restored gravestone's dedication on July 23, 2011. From the dedication program, I offer: JOSHUA 1:6-9 and MATTHEW 11: 28-30.

Among your father's posessions, we trust you will find several binders abou5 "John William Schartiger (1810-1856)." In them, you will find photos of and references to your father.

On behalf of the Schartiger Family, our deepest appreciation and condolences,

Doris (Schartiger) Herbaugh & Steve Herbaugh

Condolence: I’m very sorry to hear about your loss, I have also loss ones that were close to me. I want to just share this scripture that brought me comfort. It is found at 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 “Praise be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.”
