Obituary for MacDonald "Mac" Schumm

MacDonald "Mac"  Schumm
MacDonald Schumm, (Mac), collector, historian, Conservative, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather 87 of Circleville Ohio passed away the morning of June 10th 2018 surrounded by family at the home of his daughter in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Mac was a lifelong resident of Circleville being born April 14, 1931 to Ralph and Freda (Scott) Schumm. He married Helen (Evon Minor) Schumm on January 18, 1956. Mac attended Circleville High School as well as the Ohio State University. Mac was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a true patriot. Mac was employed for many years by the U.S. Postal Service in Circleville. He loved interacting with people, sharing a smile and story with them. His entire life he and his wife Evon collected a wide variety of relics that took them several places and introduced them to many lifelong friends. Mac spent many hours and days at antique shows, flea markets and tables around the area and the United States sharing treasures and stories of his collections. He thrived on conversations with the special people in his life and the sharing of his knowledge, opinions and viewpoints. He enjoyed conversations with many friends about antiques, life, family, his granddaughter of which he was extremely proud and Conservative America. Mac was active in the American Legion, Circleville Historical Society, and the 50 plus Circleville High School Reunion for many years. He was a fountain of knowledge regarding history especially local. He co-authored books on Circleville history. He was a proud Conservative American, proud of his country and what the flag stands for.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Freda (Scott) Schumm, his brothers, Robert Schumm Ralph Schumm, Howard (Mark) Schumm , sisters Marilyn Schumm, and Barbara (Schumm) Bennington. Loved ones that will miss him until they meet again are his wife Helen (Evon) Minor Schumm, daughter Rosanna (Schumm) Tucker, granddaughter Alicia Tucker as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life for Mac August 11, 2018 from 1:00 -5:00 pm at the Pontious United Methodist Church, 7218 Stoutsville Pike, Circleville, OH.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the private school his granddaughter attends for their track and field program: Please place his name in the memo.
