My earliest memories of uncle Mason go back to when I was about maybe 6 years old. He was minister of a country church somewhere (I surely don't remember) around Roanoke, VA where he and his family lived back then. I remember going to that church from time to time with my mom and dad and with my grandmom (his mom). On one occasion, and I remember my mom telling this story, that he was concerned that some of the country folks around the area wouldn't come to church because they didn't have nice clothes to wear. So on one particular Sunday he told everyone to come to church next Sunday in their work clothes. And even uncle Mason dressed in coveralls that next Sunday. I remember going to that service and how funny it looked with him at church in coveralls. But ... we all know the message: come as you are.
I'm sorry to see uncle Mason go but we know he had an unwaivering faith. He was indeed one strong, diligent and faithful worker for the kingdom. And now he is resting and is waiting for the final call that we will all some day hear.
