Obituary for Kenneth Gary White

Kenneth Gary White, 73, of Hedgesville, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Born May 5, 1943 in Berkeley County, WV he was the son of the late Anna Louise Burkhart Files and step-father, Howard "Buck" Files; and Kenneth Lemaster White.

He began working as a young child at Files Grocery in Glengary, then went to work for Schmidt's Bakery, and retired in 1998 from 3M. He later drove a truck for Big K Hauling and WV Dept of Highways.

Gary helped to form the Emergency Squad at 3M. He was a life-time member of Back Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Company and helped to start the Building Project and held many offices. He was a member of the Back Creek Junior Order U.A.M. Council #15.

He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Esther Rose DeHaven White; a son, Kenneth "Kenny" White and wife, Becky; a daughter, Kathy Buckler and husband, Brian; four grandchildren, Kam White and Fiancee Tory Stolipher, Brandi Bohrer and husband, Kyle, Courtney Buckler and fiancee Matt Umstot, and Jessi Buckler; one brother, Fred Files and wife, Danette; one sister, Lillian "Sis" Pugh and husband, Bob; friend of family, Needy Files and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with a Junior Order UAM Service at 5:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel with Pastor Joseph Craig officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church, 83 Back Creek Valley Road, Hedgesville, WV 25427.
