Obituary for Robert Bush "RB or Bush" Seem

Robert Bush Seem, age 66, a native of Elmira, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 24th, at his home in Martinsburg, WV, after a long battle with pulmonary emphysema.

“RB,” or “Bush,” as he was known to his relatives and many friends, was born in Elmira on August 4, 1949, to the late Donald and Theodora Seem.

Bush, named after his great-grandfather Robert P. Bush, is survived by his three sons: R.B. Seem, Jr. (fiancé Stephanie Mathias), of Washington, DC; Stephen (Tara) Seem of Raleigh, NC, and Michael Seem (fiancé Stephanie Barton) of Martinsburg, WV. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas (Pat) Seem, of Big Flats, NY, and nieces and nephews.

Bush attended Ottawa Hills Elementary School near Toledo, Ohio, and was graduated from University School in Shaker Heights, Ohio in 1967. He graduated from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA in 1971. After graduation, he married Joanne Edwards (now Joanne Wadsworth); they lived in Martinsburg, where R.B. Jr., Stephen, and Michael were born. Bush had a varied career, working in transportation logistics, insurance, and most recently as a manager for Delphi Automotive near Columbus, Ohio.

Bush’s greatest pride and pleasure came from watching his three sons grow successfully into their career fields of banking and medicine. Despite suffering from COPD, he was thrilled to attend the wedding of his son Stephen and Tara. He was looking forward to two more weddings this year—Michael to Stephanie Barton in May, and R.B. Jr. to Stephanie Mathias in October.

All of the members of Bush’s family wish to express great gratitude to Hospice of the Panhandle for the loving care given him during his illness.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 30th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Brown’s Funeral Home, located at 327 West King Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401. The family is planning a memorial service in Upstate NY later this year.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial contribution to Hospice of the Panhandle at 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or www.hospiceotp.org/donate
