John William "Pete" Laing, 77, of Hedgesville, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Berkeley Medical Center.

Born June 27, 1938 in Tomahawk, Berkeley County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Luther Lee Laing and Florence Edna Kitchen Laing Sembach and step-father, Edward Sembach.

He is survived by four sons, John W. Laing, Jr. and wife, Debbie, Douglas Lee Laing, Timothy Wayne Laing and wife, Gail, and Matthew Robert Laing; one daughter, Paula Michelle Laing Nails; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald "Wink" Laing; and two sisters, Bessie Courtney and Jeannette Harrison.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry "Sonny" Laing, James "Jim" Laing, Lewis "Cobb" Laing, Lyle "Jack" Laing, Robert "Popeye" Laing; six sisters, Ada Poole, Frances "Jinkie" DeHaven, Elma Getchel, Laura Annabelle Laing, Mary Risinger, and Beulah Miller; and a good friend, Buck Poole.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10 am with Pastor Tom Snyder and Pastor Chuck Donivan officiating at Back Creek Valley Full Gospel Church.

Interment will be in Tomahawk Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to either the Back Creek Valley Full Gospel Church, 131 Norman Silver Drive, Hedgesville WV 25427, or Full Gospel Pentecostal Church 36 Laing Drive, Martinsburg WV 25404.
